On Dec 12th, 2014 two weeks before Christmas John Marechal, AKA “Wildpix” suffered a major Heart Attack. Luckily, at the Rec centre where it happened they had an
AED (Automated External Defibrillator)


These are supplied by the Heart and Stroke Association. Bystanders were able to restart John’s heart before paramedics arrived. He is very lucky to be alive. He had no pulse for approximately 10 -15 minutes.
Today John is at about 90% recovery.

John wants to pay it forward by joining the Becel Bike Ride for Heart to raise money for the Heart and Stroke association so that they may keep up their good work and save more lives. John is planning to ride the 75 km route which takes place in Toronto on May 31st. John would truly appreciate your support.

Is there a deadline to contribute?

In the army we get trained on those in first aid at least once a year. They always stay they're not to restart a stopped heart, but to reset an irregular beat....

Indeed, I really want to, but I may have to wait a few weeks :S

I did not see any deadline to contribute but it probably should be before the ride on May 31st.

I'm training for the ride now, and have done a 75km ride once since my incident. Hope to do 100km before the actual date of the ride.

Just to bring you guys up to speed on this. I'm still training, I did do 100km on the trainer last week. So I think i'm in pretty good shape to do this Ride for Heart. As far as donations go Its preferred that all donations are in a week prior to the ride. But I'm pretty sure they will take a donation anytime before the ride. This bike riding has caused me to loose 35 lbs so far. Hope you guys will recognize me when you see me.
