Bah! Nothing from the 2014 Detroit Auto show except for this:

"Nissan will unveil an all-new version of its Titan pickup truck at next year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the automaker's chief planning officer has revealed."

Left Lane News - No News until 2015, sales to start mid 2015...

it's all part of the game. get everyone itching and over hyped so they sell out in the first year of production, lol.

You're funny. The odds of the new Titan having a standard transmission offered with a V8 or the diesel is about as likely as it outselling the F-150.

I'm confident the transmission offered will be the current 5-speed auto (RE505A), and the 7-speed auto currently used in the Patrol and QX80. However I don't know if either transmission is spec'd for 550 ft-lbs, so an additional transmission may be sourced.

GM is trying to kill the diesel pickup market... so they asked their oil company buddies to jack the prices up.

Honestly I may pick a Tundra Cummins combination over the the Titan Cummins, time will tell.

There has also been a press release for the 2.8 litre Cummins Atlas diesel in the Frontier.

makes sense. throw Ford in there as well.

if the Japanese guys have to go to bed with cummins to bring diesels in, guess we'll have to settle for that. stupid all around as they already have diesels all over the world. 2.8 cummins in a frontier?? nice!

also talks on VW bringing the crew cab Amarok pickup to n.america I hear... hey, the more the merrier!

I Still remember my Dads Datsun pick up being diesel. 2.2 motor i think.

The Terrano/Patrol/Frontier ( its called Navara in Europe) were all diesel. i think there was a version of the patrol with the 3.3 petrol but no sure...

Frontier came with 2.5TD 177hp really fast truck

Thanks!

Looks like a lot of what was expected:
  • This one looks like a 6" body lift of the current Titan, the frame just hangs down under the truck where the current trucks frame is nearly flush.
  • They switched the big rear sliding window for a "normal one", whomever made that decision needs go work for RAM....very disappointed.
  • Standard length box on a crew cab, finally!
  • Rear axle and brakes are new!
  • Exhaust is new, they finally made one for the Cummins
  • Lights look interesting....
  • Makes me think of a F-150 with a Raptor grill and GM headlights, which makes me feel queasy.

Still just teasing.

One good note is it looks like the only available engine at launch will be the diesel, so no waiting!

Automakers basically pick one of two reasons to put a diesel engine in a pickup truck: fuel economy, or low-end power for heavy towing. This gooseneck trailer in Nissan's booth at the LA Auto show confirms the Cummins Diesel Titan will have an emphasis on pulling power.

A gooseneck trailer, like the one we see here with "#CumminsSoon" slapped on the side, hooks up to a ball hitch like the one you'd see on the back of a truck. Except the ball's right in the middle of the bed, bolted into the frame. Since that part of the truck is a lot stronger than the very back of the back end, pickups can pull more weight when it's hooked on by a gooseneck.

That tells us the next Titan will either be an exceptionally robust offering in the segment... or that it'll have a three-quarter ton big brother.

Highly unlikely that Nissan would stretch so far as to try and compete with the Big Three in the "2500" size bracket; but they might be going for a class-leading towing capacity. Of course that's going to be a challenge, too: the aluminum F-150's towing and payload ratings are downright ridiculous already. 2015 Ford F-150 Can Tow 12,200 Lbs, Carry An Absurd 3,300 Lbs In Bed

One thing's for sure: Nissan will have to come out swinging pretty hard with their new Titan if they want to make a dent in the marketplace at atll at all. With the exception of the aged Toyota Tundra, the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, freshly-redesigned 2015 Chevy Silverado, and diesel-packing 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel are a damn fine field of vehicles to be competing with.

What kind of weight do you think a Titan with a 5.0 Cummins diesel could pull on a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer?
