Hey from Ottawa!
Hey everyone! I heard about this website over on ClubXterra. I'll give you a little background first.
Up here in Ottawa for school originally from Markham (Ottawa is alot better) I also have a cottage up in Haliburton so if anyone is running anything in those areas let me know. I just got my 02 X two months ago and I am loving it! I got it with only 9x,xxx km's on it Fantastic truck. During winter I'm going to be preping it for off-roading in the spring. Heavy Duty tie rods, idler arm brace and I'm gonna extend the rear diff breather. I'm getting my brakes and exhaust re-done over Christmas break and hopefully I can have my suspension done before the spring. Is there anything else that I need to get done before I take it off-road? I don't have skid plates on it but they're bloody expensive. If I'm not doing anything too difficult is it okay to run it without?
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Cheers,
Alex

Welcome to the club.
I run stock so I can not say what needs to be done to your truck, but based on damage to my truck... get some sliders.

Re: Hey from Ottawa!
Remove your step rails, they are handy for stepping in and out of the truck, but will end up doing more damage to your truck them good when you take it on the trail.
They are flimsy, so when they impact something, they tend to bend UP, and into the sills. You have a lot more clearance without them.
Also, mudflaps should come off as well.

welcome!
some sturdy tow points front and back are a good thing. if you have a trailer hitch, you can get a ring that fits in the receiver to attach a shackle to

Welcome to CNTC. I highly recommend reading the thread above. It may be your best resource as a young Padawan.

Re: Hey from Ottawa!
Now where can I get some essential parts in Canada like the heavy duty tie rods and idler arm braces. Without ordering from 4x4parts and paying stupid shipping fee's? Or does that not exist.
Oh if anyones in the Ottawa area and willing to help a guy do some work that be nice.

Re: Hey from Ottawa!
You can ship parts to Ogdensburg NY and bring them across the border yourself. Most places ship within the US for free, the receiver in Ogdensburg charges $3-$5 for packages smaller then a pallet, you pay taxes (HST) at the border and the $2.50 for the bridge.
This is the place I use The Corporate Center. I've left Ottawa, picked up my packages, fuelled and been back in Ottawa in two hours.

Re: Hey from Ottawa!
Welcome! I second miner's recommendation. I have used them a number of times, and am very pleased with the service compared to the UPS store that is down the road.

Awesome! Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. Would anyone mind helping me install a PML / Tie-rod adjusters and the IAB? I think I could do it myself, but I don't have my tools up here and I don't wanna screw anything.adamzan wrote:Welcome! I second miner's recommendation.
