Anyone have an engine?
Hi all,
Yes, I know it has been forever since I have posted anything - this whole media thing takes up an enormous amount of my life. At least I'm finally earning a living again!
So, some of you may recall that the timing belt on my 2000 X went for a poop.It was actually the tensioner that failed and it let go just off idle, so there was a pretty good chance that the heads would be ok. I stripped it down as far as I could and then discovered that the crank pulley is seized on the crank. I've spoken with a couple of my old techs, who say that if you are careful, you can air chisel the pulley off and install a new one. Of course after all of that, there is still the question about the heads.
So, I have decided to track down a complete engine for the truck, The body is mint, so it is worth doing the job. It is a 2000 X with a manual tranny. Do any of you have a good engine in the garage?

Re: Anyone have an engine?
I don't but when I had the belt done the dealership said they had to keep applying heat and penetrating oil before they could get mine off. Keep the pressure on the pulley with the puller as you heat and apply PB Blaster. If it is just sitting around then there is not much to loose (at least until you find a motor).

On my dads old 3.3 pathfinder the shop had to cut the balancer off.

Re: Anyone have an engine?
Thats weird. Ive done some many timing belts from old pathy's to newer pathy's to xterras. Never had a pulley seize on me. Maybe its the pulley puller that i have.

I've seen a couple balancers sieze on, but have always been able to get them off with a stong puller, or heat if required. Then just put a new balancer on.

Re: Anyone have an engine?
The puller wasn't the issue - the threads pulled out of the balancer!!!!!

Drill, tap, use bigger bolts. I've had to do that once on a balancer.

Re: Anyone have an engine?
Check this out. Hopefully the link works. Its a 2001 being parted out, looks to have front end damage but the engine might be still good.

Simps - that one might work out nicely, although not so cheap. $1,100 plus tax - with no core. They are so far away that they don't want the core.
