Would you do this?
... for work? This freaked me out. There were times I honestly couldn't breathe. The first 20 secs or so is animated, then the video begins.

Re: Would you do this?
Nope. Once the guy was outside of the tower, I stopped the video. No way I'm doing that. I don't like getting on a ladder to get on my roof, nevermind 1700ft in the air!

Re: Would you do this?
amazing. knew a guy once that did something similar (changing bulbs or something, lol) you kinda have to be a kid too doing this type of job, no fear! might as well bring a parachute and base jump and get home quicker, haha. reminds me of those black and white vids of construction guys working on top of skyscrapers in new york hustling across beams with no teather and sitting on the edges on their lunches..balls.

Re: Would you do this?
Although I have never been up THAT high, I did some construction work on top of the Parliament buildings here in Ottawa, a lot of the time I was hanging over the end of the scaffolding for various reasons.
The ONLY time I had any fear about it, was when I wasn't wearing my harness and tied into the structure... Something about having the harness and safety lines hooked up took away any fears that I had about being up in the air like that.
Now having said that, the Parliament buildings are NO WHERE NEAR as high as this thing is. There was a similar video of the guys who go up to the very top of the CN tower to do maintenance and what not. 1815 ft high...

Re: Would you do this?
I don't do heights well.
I almost just puked on my desk.
Harness... maybe. I get more confidence when tied off - that free climbing is rediculous though. Imagine being the guy below lol. The guy on top makes one slip or drops one tool and he's going down too.

Even with safety lines you can get hurt and they have to try and drag your butt down...no thanks...I'll stay on the ground

You get dizzy watching the video.

Re: Would you do this?
Id be all over that. I've done some pretty precarious jobs in the last 3 years, no where near that height...not even close. But I've been 60' over a raging hydro dam rigging 5 ton come alongs so we could lift the 10 ton spill gate.
The free climbing part would take some getting used to.

Re: Would you do this?
I was really amazed by this video when I saw it awhile back and looked in to it a bit further. I can’t make it a few feet off the ground before I shake and slowly back down, complete opposite of my youth. The climber in this video has, unfortunately, gotten in to a lot of hot water over this. The group of workers that do this kind of work is small and because of the unwanted attention over this video he is being labeled as a “bad example” of the trade. Still, I don’t know how he makes it up one wrung without his huge balls from holding him back…

Re: Would you do this?
We climbed up a windmill just to have a beer and see how far we could throw the can from the top. Good times. No problems until you opened the hatch and stood on top, then it got scary. And why were'nt these guys tied off 100% of the time? Buddy system? Showing off? In college I took a fall arrest course and we were told to always be tied off twice when climbing high like that. Not for everyone.
