Dodge is on the road!!! Had to do a bit of wireing hackery but so far all systems are go.

Now that I have a tow rig I guess I better get the trail rig ready.

That's the tow rig Ron, the trail rig needs an etest, some greasing, replace a crushed brake line and eventually rebuild the steering. For this weekend I'll settle for the etest and hopefully the break line. The joy of a trailer queen jeep is you can take it north and as long as it won't leave you on the trail, things like sketchy steering arn't a deal breaker.

The down side is you spend all the time working on the tow rig that could have been spent making the trail rig tip top.

I passed my e test a little while ago. Truck passes pretty well for having 450,000 on the original engine. But it is a sniffer test.

Still need to pull my front diff to fix a few things, but have a lot on the go right now. Hoping to have it trail ready by June.

So what broke Adam?

On the X, it was the distributor. I had an extra one so that was easily fixed. I am going to warranty this "new" one that was in it. The rotor screw sheared off so it would spin but no rotor spinning. I didn't notice at first as it was pointed the other way, so I initially thought t-belt. Not really thinking properly the last few days, I guess.

On the pathfinder, I some how ripped the front diff cross member right out of the bracket and it partially tore off the frame as well. I have a new/used bracket coming from an NPORA member in BC, so I will have to cut mine off, and weld that one back in. I'm not even sure how that happened. I did wheel it fairly hard last season, but I think I'm the first to have done this, that I've seen.

I only noticed it recently when I went to tighten up all the exhaust clamps. I can actually move the diff a little by hand as it is only supported by the other 2 mounts. Parked until fixed!

Just do a SAS that'll fix it for good ;)

Contemplating it...but my OCD about the width and bolt pattern would mean I would need to get the custom H233b front housing from rugged rocks and I don't have 5+K to do a proper SAS right now.

Well I am glad it was the distributor and not the t-belt. Whew!

Meh, I was kind of looking for a reason to build a VG34ER. David from Experimental Engineering will build me a long block for $2500...

Wheel spacers can solve both those problems.

Replaced "new" distributor on the X with a used one...That didn't last long at all. Let's see if the warranty covers it.

Fixed a couple of exhaust leaks (I hope) then gave my air filter it's annual cleaning. I like to do it whether it needs it or not.

It needed it.

I dunno. Looks like it could last another season...lol

Cleaned the interior of spilt stuff and dirt. Only lasted a day before sand from the beach got in.

Pondering where to mount the CB antenna and where to get adjustable mounts.

Mag mount in the center of the hood, go full unicorn ;)

It's actually an excellent spot preformance wise.

Removed oil pan on the weekend, cleaned it all up and glued sump gaskets to the block. This is taking way fething longer than I had planned.

Where can you pick up a mag mount? Searching for CB stores is about a 2 hour drive anywhere near me :o

I do not mind going unicorn on the trials. Around town might be a different story...unless I also install the mickey mouse lights :o

I have a 4' stick. I think it needs a spring incase it snags on a limb. I would like to be able to fold it flat when not in use. So something that would let me adjust it by ~90 degrees would be best.

Radio world ships, and most truck stops will have some cb stuff.

For a 4' stick you will need the largest of the 2 spring sizes. The small one will just flop all over.

As to stowage get a quick disconnect. It's been my experience that there is only one that's worth buying.

The cheaper ones will snap even just on the highway. That one is sold stainless and will last forever.
