I agree. I need to truly test it, but I swear my SC MT *with* the trailer is faster than my buddy's NA AT

The trans will probably be making a big difference to at least the feel and probably the preformance to... That and forced induction is always a good thing.

Especially with the knock sensor system working properly.

Michel are you planning on putting trailer brakes on yours? Or maybe you already did and I missed it lol. I have a brake controller for mine I got out of a JY pahy and it made a huge difference. The manual for mine says all trailers over 2000lbs should have brakes.

Oh indeed. I want to get that done before taking it to AW...I want to test it on Hydroline! It's just kinda expensive since I'm going to use the hydraulic brakes, but that's part of the plan for next year.

She does brake well, but I did heat up the brakes on a very long hill in Cape Breton. I also heated up the motor going up it, to say it wasn't just the brakes that weren't up to the challenge, and the hill wasn't an easy one.

Cool, I think having the trailer brakes is even more critical since we run over sized tires. Not that I tow a lot or far, but it helps. Considering my brake pads I put on last summer are already at the squealer tabs...Not even 20k on them.

Traded it.

We traded the '05 XC90 on a '16 Cherokee Trailhawk. My bride is happy to have a new SUV, and although it as not as luxury oriented as a Volvo the capabilities and comforts are quite good. I don't know if the Trailhawk is capabile enough to make "Rig" status, but I can see us exploring what it is actually cpable of.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing the Trailhawk on the trails at AW. :)

Had a trailhawk out with me at a newbie run on picard. He took it all the way through weakest link without any issues except for one light tug on the top of a bolder strewn dirt hill. And to be fair it's probably my fault because I told him to set the traction control to rock, not realizing it had a dirt settled. I'm dutifully impressed.

Nice. I was thinking Gooderham, Picard and the general fire access roads type trails. Wouldn't have thought it could handle weakest link, I've only walked that trail as it's tight.

To be fair it was bone dry but I was pleasantly surprised. Mike was there as well but I think he was dealing with a stuck stock Comanche while the cherokee was doing the cool stuff ;) just goes to show how stock vehicles have advanced since the 80s.

I got to catch the trail hawk climb from the other side of the ravine.

It impressed me.

Talking about weight and mods, here's a damn good article

https://www.overlandbound.com/daily-dri ... rland-rig/
We are vastly exceeding the original gross vehicle weights spec’d by the manufacturers. My vehicle for example comes in at a whopping 6600 lbs fully fueled. The original vehicle ranged from about 4700-4800 lbs in stock form.
It just seems part of the game. Impossible to not go over the GVWR, it's what we need to do.

You are correct sir. The factory weight allowances just don't leave enough wiggle room. But it's something to be aware of.

Sunday the truck got it's 2nd battery back with a new yellow top. I also replaced the broken winch with the Tundra Tested 10k that was on sale at CT last week. My roof basket is 90% done, but is getting painted this week for use on the weekend. I also changed the gearbox fluid and tightened up the ball joints. Today she got the alternator rebuilt since it was acting off at idle and high rpms. Hopefully i'll get some Xmas lights installed tonight.

Reason for all the work, and not just to get some TLC done before driving home for Xmas...she'll be part of and towing and powering a Krampus-theme Christmas float this Saturday

You need the winch to tow a float? Man that's a hardcore parade.

Lol I don't, but after it's all said and done, I may be the one to bring the trailer to their parents place to store it for the winter. It's currently accessible only by AWD vehicles because of the snow, so to tow a trailer, a real 4x4 will probably be needed, and I'd rather have a winch then not.

I think the fact that "this has bigger tires and more poop hanging off of it than it came with", should be enough to cause you to adjust your driving technique of said vehicle. I have a stock pathfinder and my wheeler. The stock one handles like a car, better than my Xterra even.

Got the right front speed sensor replaced, but still showing "ABS, VDC OFF and SLIP". Throwing a C1187 code. Mechanics are researching it now. Any ideas?

Yeah, unfortunately for that code, there is a pile of different things...
