Changed the oil, don't ask how long it has been...I was not impressed with my self.
Failed twice at installing the new 1500W inverter. A trip to PA tonight should yield me a good temporary setup.

I removed the rear wiper from the truck, replaced it with a used 17" wiper I had just removed from our car. Played around with it a little - turned it on... squirted a little washer fluid on the window.. admired how it wiped the rear window... then removed it and the original tiny wiper back on.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Hopped over to the States last night to pick up one of them "Mantenna's" since Hydroline destroyed our Wilson antenna. I get over there and sadly they were sold out of the 102" stainless steel whips BUT he said "I have a bunch here that guys have returned that have a slight bend in them. Our regular price for these is 13 bucks but I'll cut you a ridiculous discount for one of these." So we go through the pile and found one that has the ever-so-slightest bend at the end. "How does 5 bucks sound?" I told him "SOLD"!

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I have no problem doing that - it is only 10 minutes south of Detroit. I'll keep this in mind come Christmas Party time. The other "mantenna's" that he had had more noticeable wobble to them but with a little time and determination, those stainless steel whips could be straightened.Snafu wrote:@Fyrtowr - should have bought a bunch as I am sure folks would buy them...I'd give you 10
Sadly, my oversize Canadian flag is too heavy for the antenna! LOL

Washed the pathy today, then applied two cans of Rustcure 3000 to the rear spring perch and surrounding, and to the rust prone area in the front, strut mounts, etc. Hopefully it'll slow the rust down. Then tire rotation and alignment next week...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Swapped out my head unit. Now have built in BT and love it. Put in the newer version of the deck that I had in my Volvo before the Fronty. Installed the mic above the rear view mirror on the side of the map lights. Calls are loud and clear, and hands-free. Awesome.
Also installed a PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel control adapter with the new HU. Awesome.
Reinstalled the power outlet that I removed for the boost gauge. It's hidden behind the dash, accessible through the passenger foot well. Plugged in the GPS power chord and ran it up in the dash and through the vent. No more super-annoying wire hanging down in front of the stereo and HVAC controls. Again, awesome.
Had to remove the OEM RF amp to make room for all the new crap. Not so awesome, a PITA to get it out.
Removed, disassembled, cleaned and reinstalled the rear door switches. Now my dome light actually turns on when I open the back doors. You guessed it, awesome.
Changed the oil. Did a little over 5,000kms in 4 weeks. Not so awesome.
Tried to inspect my steering, but very tough to do on my own, and I don't really know what I'm looking for or how to look for it. I don't want to, but I think I'm going to have to take it into the shop.

Cool.
I finally cleaned the truck. Put the clay bar to it. Then 3 coats of wax. Ready for the snow to fly!
Replaced TREs, as they had blown up. Thank you Moog for that life-time warranty.
Next: Clean interior of all the summer activities, and probably paint the floor, as some bits are missing the paint (no carpet in there.)

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Studum - about that steering thing:
Lift the passenger side front tire up - then lean into the front side of the tire. Push it around. Watch your idler arm. Does it move around? Does the tire swing to and fro? Go up and down? Next, lean on top and bottom to check for bearing play. If it moves a lot, time for bearings. If the tire is wearing badly - tread looks like a roller coaster with high points and low points - then the idler arm bushings are probably shot. The tire is moving left to right and back again as it goes down the road, causing strange wear.
There's never (rarely?) any play on the pitman arm side. But you could check for bearings.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Can't you just tighten the bearings up a bit if they are loose? That's what I did and they've been fine for 2 years. Unless the X is different but I don't think so.
