New Member from the Fraser Valley
March of 2020 I bought a 2005 Xterra POS
By December 2021 I had spent just over $10,400 on repairs (including a SMOD tranny, that the old owner lied about)
December 2021 I totaled it on some black ice (last at fault accident was over 30 years ago)
I liked how well the Xterra handled our local FRS's but I missed having a pickup, but didn't want another full-size
I am too cheap to pay the Toyota tax so I bought a 2005 Frontier crew cab NISMO edition
Hopefully it turns out to be more reliable than the Xterra was.
I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and have lived for the last 24 years in the Fraser Valley

Welcome to CNTC! This forum is a bit quiet lately but join us too on Facebook.
Congrats on the Fronty purchase. If it's an auto you already know what to do about the SMOD. Post up any other questions.

Re: New Member from the Fraser Valley
Welcome! I assume by your username you're a HAM operator? There's a few members here that are also into that.
Unfortunate about the xterra, but hopefully the frontier serves you well. Other than the SMOD and timing chain problems of the early 2nd gens they are pretty reliable vehicles. I know of several that are well over 300,000km.
I'm in Ontario but love BC and can't wait to go back (with my Xterra next time hopefully).

Welcome. I would love a Frontier. Titan swapped would be cool.

Re: New Member from the Fraser Valley
The truck is currently running 33" KO2's but they seem to rub on occasion
The truck came with a 2 1/2 inch rough country spacer lift up front and 2 inch add a leaf lift in the back.
I am also looking at trying to figure out a good way to mount my winch on it.
I don't have the money for a full bumper right now, and a WAM winch mount seems expensive for what you get.
I may look at the Curt front receiver hitch as an option, as my winch is currently set-up as a receiver winch. I just don't know how much front clearance I would lose doing this (I wouldn't run the truck with the winch on the front, unless the winch was actually in use)
Any suggestions would be welcome

if you know somebody that has a welder you could do the bumper kit. they are usually a lot less expensive than the fully built ones
