Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
Watched that last night, 16.72 mpg (14.07 l/100km) Hwy empty and 11.1 mpg (21.38 l/100km) Hwy towing isn't bad when compared to a gas full-size truck. Something to note that both test were run at 70 mph, trailer tires are only speed rated for 65 mpg. The Nissan rep noted to the Kingston dealer that the front airdam, which is not included on the Pro-4X, is good for 2 mpg.
They did a similar test with a Ram 2500 Cummins running less distance at 65 mph that returned 24 mpg (9.8 l/100km) Hwy. 30% better fuel economy with the bigger truck with the bigger Cummins.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
How much more does the Titan weight over the Ram? That's significant, and pretty damn good mileage honesty. But in all honesty I'm not a Ram/Dodge fan. What they have going for them is their price, features/price and the diesel fuel economy. But it's their build quality and fit and finish that always gets me. They're stuff that wears out after a year or two that shouldn't, the simple stuff, and that I don't see a problem either on Ford or GM.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
Yes I've seen and heard quality issues with RAMs. Squeaks and rattles on trucks under a year old much worse than my 10 year old Titan.
That being said, it's the Cummins engine, fuel economy, capability, resale value, and solid axles that get me.
There's also the factor that the Cummins 6.7 is available in a used RAM. I walked into a deal last night on a 2012 2500 Cummins that was too good to walk away from.

Yeah, I have one of those. It takes up half the desk.
Spent the afternoon driving a Cummins. I think I'm hooked on TORQUE.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
Two Titan Xds have arrived in Kingston, both of the trucks that I thought I wanted:Morpheus wrote:Still no truck yet, but have you seen the size of the brochure?
- Titan XD SV with SV Comfort and Convenience & Utility Package (Silver), and
- Titan XD Pro-4X without Pro-4X Convenience-Lucury Package (Black)
If we believe the display the fuel economy while cruising in town and on the highway was surprisingly good, better than 13 l/100km. However the truck appears to be overly affected by hills and headwind, requiring a surprising increase in throttle input and pushing up fuel consumption. I've recently drove a 6.7l Cummins on the same route, the 6.7l Cummins reports slightly more fuel consumption while cruising with much less change in throttle input (fuel consumption) when load increases.
Capability, Nissan reported that the Pro-4X would have a curb weight of 7,257 lbs and a GVWR of 8,990 lbs neting payload of 1,733 lbs. This Titan XD has a sticked payload of 1,488 lbs. The other Titan XD that has arrived, a SV with the Comfort and Convenience Package has a payload of 1,543 lbs, compared to its released 1,838 lbs. For comparison a F-150 with 4x4 and the same cab and box configuration has at least 1,700 lbs payload without the HD payload package.
1,700-1800 lbs was our minimum payload for a truck to replace our current Titan. At that we are not asking the new truck to do more than our current Titan, just to do it within it registered limits. The current Titan XD cannot fulfill our requirements, as such we have decided to buy a used RAM 2500 6.7l Cummins.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
The Fast Lane Truck did the Gautlet with the XD and they also had issues with the low payload.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
You're kidding.
1,377 lbs, so by the SAE J2807 specs subtract 300 lbs for driver and passenger and 100 lbs for optional equipment to get your available maximum tongue weight of 977 lbs. 977 lbs equates to a 9,770 lbs maximum conventional trailer or a 6,513 lbs goose neck. Also for reference that's only 127 lbs more than a 2005 Titan.
Big question, why does the CANADIAN NISSAN specs show the Platinum Reserve to have a payload of 1,470 lbs? Almost 100 lbs more than the truck you have on the lot. There's NO OPTIONS available on a Platinum Reserve, that truck should way exactly what they said it would and have the exact payload specified.

Re: Fingers Still Crossed for Titan Diesel
Same comparison on the Pro-4X I drove. Maximum payload spec 1,733 lbs, truck did not have any additional options to add weight, however the sticker was 1,488 lbs. 245 lbs below spec and a lost sale.
I think Nissan Canada is blindly publishing US specs as the US trucks come with less standard equipment than ours.
