NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
I am reaching out to anyone in the Nissan community who can offer support in a time of need. While wheeling in the Carnarvon area, myself along with a friend managed to get both our vehicles stuck in water/mud. Thankfully all occupants made it home safe tonight with the help of some very generous locals. Unfortunately, both vehicles were abandoned until a later date when a recovery could be undertaken.
We are hoping to put together a small team of wheelers willing to offer assistance. As you can probably anticipate, we are very anxious to get these vehicles out as soon as possible as they are partly submersed in water/mud. We are hoping for a recovery during the week or weekend the latest. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
If you are able to help, please contact me in the following ways:

Thanking all in advance.

How bad is it? How far into the trail and how are the conditions to get to that point?

Re: NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
Hi everyone, sorry for the delayed reply. We were out yesterday afternoon/evening getting the trucks out.
We were able to recover both vehicles quite easily using a highlift thanks to JAS on this forum. Awesome & fun guy, super knowledgeable.
Thanks to everyone for their support.

Re: NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
Good.
So I assume adding a high-lift, come-a-long, or winch to your basic list of recovery gear is in order.

Re: NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
You know it. Will be looking to add more gear but also learning how to use it correctly for future recoveries.
All said and done, was a great learning experience.

Re: NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
Glad to hear you made it out (better off for it?).
A perfect storm of circumstances (work, health, ball joints, tierod ends) kept me from, at least, offering you my body
wait a second this isn't sounding right, what I mean is that I live not even 2 hours away and should have been there to help, but I don't have a lot of experience anyway...damn why is the backspace not working ... ?
Don't read that stuff up there.

That sounds mighty LOTR-ish. Is it actually a line from something famous? ... or are you just that good?Miner wrote:What has been read, cannot be unread.

No idea, but I highly doubt a posses any original thought; so I must have picked it up from somewhere.

Your body would have been of no use to us. We were busy recovering vehicles.Xtrapol8 wrote:Glad to hear you made it out (better off for it?).

Re: NEED HELP - recovery of 2 vehicles
Here's a short write up I posted on SONTT. Adding it here as well.
The Landcruiser was first to get stuck. In trying to recover it, the 4Runner got stuck.
Basically rigged up the highlift to the Landcruiser. Jamming a ramp under the rear driver wheel and pulling it back a couple feet was enough to reverse out. Yanked the Runner using a tow rope and the Cruiser. Had to navigate through a different section of this same body of water with minimal issues. Then had to wheel approx another 1.5 kms of logging road with some pretty slick areas. Was fun though as we bombed through these areas at speed. When we walked in, we assessed the road for any issues so we knew it would be a relatively flat run with no risk of logs/rocks.
