Truck mounted battery maintainer

Last week, during the cold snap, before heading to work at 5am, the X was dead!
Luckily my wife was still home so I could use the Mini for a boost. When done work, the truck struggled to turn over. The battery is 9 months old and I don't have anything plugged in that stays on.

I decided to get a battery charger/maintainer. I picked up the Noco Genius G1100 on sale at Canadian Tire. I hard mounted it under the hood, on the back passenger side, behind the cruise control box. When I get home, all I have to do it plug it in and the battery gets maintained.

Now the truck starts with ease, even on the coldest of mornings. Should have done this mod years ago!

Cool idea.... gotta ask: only 9 months old? sounds like a bum battery or alternator issues?

I just think I've got too many electrical toys and it was bloody cold outside.

Grab a booster pack at Crappy Tire. They've saved mine and neibours bacon a ton if times. Not only good for winter, all year round. Nice install by the way. Looks clean.

I've used one for years, but I put in in the back, and it has a cigarette lighter plug. I plug it into the hatch power plug that is active all the time, and just close the hatch on an extension cord.

Wherever you mount it, they're great to have, and don't cost very much.

I did consider doing that but had less than favorable experience in the past doing that - running power in reverse through the fuse. I preferred to run it direct to the battery.

I now have two plugs in the grille - battery on the passenger side, and block heater on the driver side. Since I reconditioned the battery, it starts like a charm, even at 5 am!

Yea they aren't, you can put them in upside down if you want. They're just different thickness's of wire.

And while we're on the topic if fuses..those mini blades will fit the bigger style blade fuse holder, but not the reverse. FYI if your stuck.
