Against my wifes wishes I think I'll tackle the install myself. I'd jump on $200 or a Titan Wrenching Meet up there but I don't like the idea of working on the truck 3-4 hours from home. At home I have the time to run to Nissan/Napa/etc if hardware breaks or if gaskets are missing, and my car to drive if the truck is down for a couple days.

Got an update from Amazon this morning, my $514 JBA Titanium Long Tubes that where supposed to be in stock (directly from Amazon) are not in stock and won't ship for weeks...maybe a month... Not impressed, I bought from Amazon because they always have shipped on time, at or near the lowest price available.

Jeff at Cajun B-Pipes is awesome, he emailed late last night saying my pipes were done and gave me my ups shipping number and invoice. I emailed him at 6:30 this morning asking about packaging with a JBA and he emailed me back at 8:30, should ship today. To give you an idea of how on the ball this guy is I ordered the pipes first thing Tuesday, he brought in the cats, built the pipes and shipped in 48-72 hours, he responds to emails at night and before 7:30 (Central Time), and he gets it right. Also at $550 for the JBAs including shipping he is $17 less then Amazon after you add in their fees and taxes...however the PayPal fee will make it break even.

Luke what is your plan for tuning, or are you FlexFuel?

No, ordered everything a week too late for that. This weekend I'll be sporting the cracked manifold mod, hopefully it doesn't get much worse.

I know how that one goes.

No big deal if it does get worse, you already have headers on the way, so...

No time to work on the truck! Might run some cipher logs tonight before and after the intake....if I get the grass cut...

Looking at the header install and comparing the JBA instructions to Nissan's. Does Nissan still suggest removing the intake, the rad and the four back header studs, or do they do it the JBA way now? JBA supports the motor, removes the motor mount on one side, jacks the motor 1 inch and then repeats on the other side.

Okay so next week it is going all on at once. I'll run a cipher log before and after. I had planned to log Stock Cold (leaking headers), Stock Hot (headers seal a bit), Stock with AirRaid Hot, and "All In". This will be faster, with no real usable information.

Bah, it's just a few extra steps.

The first attempt was only a trial run anyways, right?

Yeah, 8 hours learning on the right side, 2 hours for the left side...hopefully.

What I've learned: patience, persistence, WTF do you mean the instructions are wrong, persistence, persistence, more tools are always needed, and extractors are your friend.

Logged this morning:
  • Equaled the trucks previous best 0-60; therefore the Borla hasn't hurt performance
  • Improved the trucks previous best 0-60 in this tune; therefore the Borla may improve performance
  • First scan of the log shows the trucks AFR has a wider range, but still a little rich (12.0 vs 12.7); this leads me to believe that more output is available by fine tuning the tune(s)

No video yet, or pics. Maybe at lunch today.

Must be nice to be able to monitor things. I had to just throw the headers and exhaust on and hope for the best lol.

Lol, same...

Although, I've always wanted a ScanGauge or something similar so that I could monitor things like that.

I'd still like a ScanGauge. It isn't practical to have a laptop running in the passenger seat all the time. It is nice to have the diagnostic capability though.

I'm not sure if Cipher will work for unsupported ECUs, its basically 03+ 350Z, 04+ Titan and Armada, 04+ Murano, 05+ Frontier and Xterra. We can see if it will connect and read on previous generations, but I wouldn't expect anything.

NismoJunky told me about these today, it would allow me to constantly monitor AFR(s).
