Need a winch out in markham
Hey guys and girls. Well I was out muddying a bit yesterday and finally got the truck stuck good. Tried everything from trying to pull it out with my friends 4 runner and trying to dig it out. But the truck won't budge. I was wondering if anyone would be able to winch me out. I'll defn compensate you for your time. It's about a 1km I'm from the paved road and about 500m off a gravel road in an open field. No trees around or anything. I had a few tow trucks come but most don't have enough cable and the ones that do want an absurd amount of money. If some could help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you in an area where it is legal to wheel? Is it private property? Hope you don't get a trespass ticket.

Re: Need a winch out in markham
My major intersection would be warden and 407. I'm just off birchmount and enterprise road south east corner under the 407 bridge. Theres a dirt trail on the east side there. I had police come by because a few friends came out and somebody reported us because we were walking around with shovels but we didn't get any tickets. They saud to leave it and come back today when the ground was harder.
Yeah if u have some friends that would be great. Ive been going to this area all winter just kinda teaching my self some light wheeling but I guess with all the rain the ground turned to swamp.

If anyone can help me get out I'll pay them. These tow truck guys want insane amounts and won't go in because they'll get stuck.

Re: Need a winch out in markham
gosh, i can't imagine what these guys want for money, yikes...
i think ANY truck will get stuck there based on the pics. doesn't help either that we've got this freezing storm thing goin on....
can you explain how the area looks? assuming another truck will get into the same muck and be stuck...so
how far are you from solid ground? any trees to anchor on to? which way do you think the truck should be yanked, backwards or forwards? hmm, a ground anchor would probably be nice.
waiting to see if anyone says anything on my end...can't guarantee anything right now...
safe to say you've officially earned the name "muddy" "r50".
tried that list that morpheus posted?

Re: Need a winch out in markham
We took my friends old 4runner and it had warn down tires and and we got it in there it just didn't have the power to move it. I spent the night digging out the front wheels and front end out and the rear tires are dug out. The problem is that the tires are so packed with this sloppy sticky mud that they have zero traction. Truck wont budge an inch on it's own.
The reason the tow trucks refuse to drive in is because non of them have 4x4 there all duallies ( thus being heavy) and have allseasom tires. They said the can winch me out from the end of the gravel road but I'm about 500 meters into the middle of a big open field. There is basically nothing in this field but mud.
I actually had no problem driving through it at all but I stopped in the middle because my phone rang, and basically that was it. When I stopped it sank a bit and I gave it a bit too much gas and it just spun the tires and the driver side started to sink. I guess it was extra soft in that spot.
I guess it was an inexperienced mistake but because of it I have guys in towtrucks asking for almost half of the cost of my truck to get it out. Which is insane. I know a proper set up 4x4 with power and good tires will pull me loose. I just need to pull loose to get out of the rut.
The front end is dug out but it's drier by the back of the truck and the rear us a lot higher out of the mud. Plus the trailer hitch is super accessible to pull from.

Re: Need a winch out in markham
I would suggest your best opportunity would be tonight, dropping to -2. Ground may firm up a bit. After that looks like going up to 14, will be very sloppy.
Good luck on the extraction.

Re: Need a winch out in markham
Since you have the tires dug out see if you can get an old snowmobile track. Cut it in half and put them under the tires. It may get the momentum going to drive it out.

Re: Need a winch out in markham
Ok so we brought my buddies new tundra out and it was just way to heavy to go through the mud. Mind you it's on stock tires.
I spoke to petesPath and trying to see if I can get a few trucks out to help do a recovery for me this Sunday. The location is in markham. Anyone that wants to help or can help that will be greatly appreciated. I will defn take care of you guys for all the help. I'm aiming for noon on Sunday.
Thanks everyone. This is really a great site and even though I'm new I have people willing to come out and help me out. It's greatly Appricated.
