Re: WAY too much free time (New Bumpers)
Slowly but surely. I've abandoned the metal bumperettes for now, not in the budget and I currently have more pressing issues to take up my time. The back bumper/tire carrier design is done, once things settle a bit I'll mock it up, and hopefully have her built and mounted for AW...

Well, I know I'm a LITTLE late, but I've been busy (what with the move and all). Here are pictures of the newest incarnation of my Bumper Design (I did it in SketchUp as my CAD computer died). The measurements should all be accurate. I haven't done the mounting brackets yet as I need to wait til I get the BL done and take new measurements.
I must admit that I have drawn HEAVILY on Casper's build on ClubXterra.
Here's the Dropbox link to the SketchUp Model

Looks great man!!!
What thickness plate you thinking of for the hinge support for the tire side? That is the only place it I was curious about, the rest looks pretty beefy.

1/4 for the swing brackets and bumper mounting brackets. 3/16 for the bumper itself and probably the Jerry Can Holder. Today I'm gonna try to get a HiLift mount, the CB antenna mount, somewhere to store the offroad base of the HiLift, and a small odds and ends box (spout for the Jerry Can, etc). Couple lights to add as well...

Looks good. I know that bumper you are drawing off of. Didnt he get some flack at first for using heim joints? Can I assume the rear licence plate will be mounted on the face for the jerry cans?

Seems to me he did get flack, but it seems like the best option to me... And yes, license plate goes on the Jerry can holder.
