Some ice fishing pics. Jan 26 2013.

Called "Caseys" http://www.timeonthewater.ca/caseys_popup.html up in Port Bolster on Lake Simcoe last Monday and had zero issues getting a spot for Saturday. Three of us went up and caught well over 70 perch (alot of dinks, but hey better than nada) and 3 hearing, for whatever reason the hearing wernt interested in our bait, but you were able to see them down below us in about 5-10 feet of water. All perch were caught about a foot off bottom in about 30-35 feet of water using minnow supplied. Taj the owner was good to deal with and takes you out in an argo. If anyone is interested in doin a little ice fishing before ice out I recomende Caseys  . They also will bring you out sandwichs and other food, but we had our own. Onto the pics.

Nice! A co-worker / friend and I took our sleds and girls (teenagers) out on Sydenham Lake Sunday. Didn't catch a thing but the girls had fun skating and spinning the sleds out on the ice.

That is awesome. A lot of my friends have their own ice shacks on the river here, though I don't think they're out there for the excellent fishing on the rideau river  .

Try to get out on Sydenham Lake again on Sunday. Might put some holes in the ice, might just tool around.

Nice Miner! is that a Rapala portable hut? I'd love to have a portable, but then I need a sled to pull it cause im to lazy to drag it. Water crosing???wtf. In the last few years its been getting sketcherier and sketcherier with the weather and ice forming. Two years ago up in Nord Bay we had 1 foot of water on the ice. But the million dollar question man wheres the beef? I mean fish. Did you guys manage ayn?

No fish, was that the point?

The hut is from Costco, I think he paid under $200 ($179?) for it delivered to his home. We used my Pelican 65 sled, which was $69 if I remember correctly.

Ice conditions were good my knowledge of the Lake and visibility were not, crossing open water was my mistake and one I won't repeat.

Well thanks to Mother Nature work was held off, but not held off enough for some more fishin! Road conditions were less than favorable on the way up with multiple spinouts and crashes all over the 401. We used the same outfitter as last time, but it did'nt run as smoothly. All his equipment had sucome to the snow (2 Argos and a bombider) We had to wait around a little bit, but finally made our way out. I was hoping to land some keepers agin, but it wouldnt happen this go around. The fishing was slow and the perch have seemed to have moved off onto other places. We managed about 10 perch each and 2 hearing each. Oh well cant win them all the time, but its better than the best day at work :) A few pics.

During the daylight hours this is what she looks like from inside the hut. Once again we were fishing in about 30' of water with about 15' visibility down.Image
