Xterra Temp Gauge

Post by agentorange »

A friend of mine who has an Xterra asked if I could help with an issue she is having with her truck. I am going to suggest she join the CNTC but in the meantime, here is her issue...

"My truck needs a temperature gauge and my mechanic hasn't found one in months! There is apparently a shortage from japan!! I was thinking that on the off chance someone totalled their Xterra from the club, that I could take their gauge, or perhaps it has happened to someone from the club before and they have a solution.
Anyways, long story short, I thought you could perhaps give me a contact for the club, or put the question out with the club if you were still in touch?
My truck is a 2004 base model.
Thanks for your help!"

Hope some-one can help.

Are we talking the actual temp gauge from the instrument cluster in the dash?

If you can't get one directly from Nissan, I would guess that your best chance to find a replacement would be at the local wrecking yard.

What is the current gauge doing?

Is there a chance that it is the sensor and not the gauge?

If the sensor is okay, and sending correct readings to the ECU the gauge really isn't vital...the high temp warning light is vital.
