LHD safari for sale, diesel!

Post by CruiserRomey »

http://www.delica.ca/trader/other_vehic ... l_Orig_LHD

just thought i'd share this here. i know the seller, we bought a delica from Mardy over a year ago. one of the most reputable delica/jdm guys out west with a thorough presale service package. it's a 4b auction, it's 5spd, NA 4.2 straight 6 diesel, it's got the bomb proof air diff lock, AND IT"S Left hand drive! this is the barebones, all business safari/patrol you can take around the world through the bush.
$15G's is a solid deal for this amazing truck!

enjoy.

Do I want it, yes. Do I want to spend $15k on a another 4wd vehicle, not really.

Also I'm not sure I could live with the performance (excuse the wiki dump):

TD422
125 PS (91.9 kW; 123.3 bhp) @ 4000 RPM
27.8 kg·m (273 N·m; 201 lb·ft) @ 2000 RPM
Nissan Safari series Y60/61 from 1987 to 2011
Cummins - Zone, BD, AFE, Yokohama, Bestop, Access, VisonX, H&S

comin from a guy with a titan and (f150 before?) i hear you. i guess it's just north americans in general that are more power and tow capacity hungry (especially with our 401's)..or i should say our societys demands and expectations for trucks is different (and most will say is excessive). the rest of the world is quite content with the td4.2..they're still worked quite hard in militaries, UN, etc.. these rigs aren't for haulin ass at 120 uphill, they're slow luggers, drive at the speed limit (or just a tad over), and it'll get you there and back. but it'll outlast any n.american gasser (and even some diesels for that matter), same as the 1HZ in the toyota 70 series mine trucks (there's a good reason they're not using domestic diesel pickups and are shipping these from japan ;) ).

but yeah, it's not for everyone. it is a special rig nonetheless with a huge cult following in s.america, australia, and the rest of the world. also a perfect platform for overlanding. a friend get's 9/10L/100kms on his safari.

btw, this is NA'd, the engine mods on this motor are endless..and you can wake up that little giant easily.

Very cool! I saw this shortly before you posted the link. Always looking for cool diesel Toyotas and Nissans. I was tempted but I was apprehensive to purchase without seeing and driving it. Don't have the time to go to BC to look at a truck. Actually just bought a truck like Ron's (Bow_Tied) so I won't be shopping for a while...

i'll go out and say that a blind sale from the above seller will be a safe and worthwhile experience (dozens have done it from alberta to ontario to the east coast). his rep is on the line. he shipped our van at his dealer rate on the train, landed in concord/vaughn and i picked it up, got it certified/etested, brought paperwork to MTO and it was plated and official. :) . . . also my 2nd jdm blind sale from out west so i'm a vet now, lol.

not sure why safaris haven't made their way here in s.ontario (not even a handful really, the one fella i know in ottawa has 3), there's quite a few landcruisers though.

ah well, just doin my usual jdm diesel truck plug....:)

What?!? You were supposed to buy a proper truck...one with a box. The Jeep Thing (mental condition) must be getting worse

@agentorange, when something needs to be moved you're asked, "you didn't bring your truck widjadidja?" Not, "excuse me sir, does that Pathfinder have a frame? If so in an act of astute mental fortitude did you include your trailer in your travels, on which we could transport these barrels of Grey Poupon back to our estate?"

@myself, I'm just being a asshat for my own amusement. I haul trailers more often then I haul in the bed.

@agentorange, congrats on the new "truck" I hope it serves you well. Is it the 3.3l, 4.0l or the 5.6l? Assuming it isn't the new 3.5l.

 Funny, this thread doesn't seem to be about the LHD Safari anymore!

@ Miner - too funny! It has the 4.3 litre. As per Ron, I "upgraded" from a Chevy Impala to a Chevy Blazer ZR2. Still have the Jeep for serious offroad fun!
