Mounted a hitch, ground down the new push bar and rock guarded it, replaced the door weather stripping. Decided it needs new sway bar bushings. Long day, hope to mount the push bar tomorrow. Installing a 50lbs hitch yourself kinda sucks.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Obtained some upper ball joints. Already have the lowers. Found one bad lower, may as well do them all at once. Steering is still tight though, thankfully. First Nissan I've owned with a tight idler arm!
I have a question for anyone here with a second gen X who are still on their oem brakes. Do you find that there is a crapload of brake dust coming from them? My father has a brand new X and damn, even after it's washed, within like 2 days the front wheels are noticeably filthy. I've never seen brake dust so bad before, the brakes work great just messy. It only gets driven like 40km a day if that. Just wondering what others have experienced.

Haven't done anything to my rig today. But I did just put an order in at AC for a full lift kit, plus 2" body lift!

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Replaced my steering box today with a Reman'd one. If there is one that I do extremely well, it's making a mess. Power steering fluid everywheres...
I'm not sure that anyone could do that job without making a mess though, so I can take some solace in that at least.
One step closer to being ready for AW...

Dropped her off at Kingston Nissan for a transmission service and to replace the rear axle seals.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Left axle seal replace (failed), and right axle seal replace (preventative, my choice) - with bearings, cages and labor $750Miner wrote:Dropped her off at Kingston Nissan for a transmission service and to replace the rear axle seals.
Left and right inner CV boots replace (split) - boot kits and 4 hours labor $450
Rear brake pads kit - parts only, no charge for labor
Transmission service - cutting a deal with all the other work they are doing
Total $1480...ouch. After all the money she has taken in the last 12 months I wonder if she knows how close she is to becoming the down payment on a Super Duty.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Third time? This will be the second time in 200,000 km. Actually the axle was replaced when the diff failed around 50,000 km so this set has went 150,000 km. I know you have added a diff vent tube, make sure in isn't obstructed. Are the bearings, cages and seats in the axle tube damaged or worn?Nismojunky wrote:the axle seals are a peice of cake to do just did mine agian for the third time **I have a filthy mouth, pass the soap** nissan pos rear end
