CDN-NTC TOTM Calendar?

Post by Nd4SpdSe »

Well, it's an idea before it gets too late, but I think I mentioned this maybe a year ago, but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to make a CDN-NTC Calendar, with a TOTM and maybe even a first runner up into a Calendar. Could make a good gift come the holidays, and well, just a kick-ass calendar ;)

i've been looking into having some TOTM calendars made. They biggest problem I am encountering is getting the TOTM photos in a large enough size and high enough resolution so they don't get blurry when you enlarge them to an 8x11" size. I think it would be super-tough to get a copy of the original image from everyone who won (or the photographer). We might be able to do a smaller calendar, but i still don't think the TOTM images are good enough to use for that size either.

Indeed. I know exactly what you mean, especially if you want to have a single large picture per month. That's why I was thinking of using 4 pictures, 2 trucks per month, 2 pics each. the TOTM gets the most attention, and that way, each pic is smaller.

I'm not a graphic designer so it takes me a long time to come up with designs, but I can use photoshop. Here's one I made last year (that never got completed/printed since there was too much indecision and procrastination)

I'll get one for sure!!!

And I'm pretty sure that we have more than enough pictures to put in the calendar, even with four pictures per month.

Just a bump, not too sure if there's enough time or interest, but it came back to mind, and worth an ol' bump.
Worth looking into cause:
1) There's just not that many really good calendars out there at the store.
2) 366 days of awesomeness hanging on the wall
3) Raise a few extra bucks for the CNTC fund

There REALLY isn't much time left in the year, however, if someone wanted to put something together, I'd say go ahead. I don't see Pezzy taking this on this year, and I have absolutely no skills in this regard.

Lol, I feel shame in that's what I thought too.

Maybe do it a 13 month. 12 months are the winners plus the runners up for that month, 13th month is a pic of all premium members, or even members (who wish to participate) with their forum names or something like that. Not sure how much space that would leave for each persons truck though.

Part of the problem is we do not have November or December winners as yet. So getting a calendar together in time for Christmas or even the new year is pretty tight.

EDIT and higher res TOTM pics are needed

I am looking at an on-line printer with TOTM.

What would be good it to have a TOTY (of the 12 trucks) that would appear on the cover or simply use the club logo (high rez needed for that too).

Would also be cool to add dates for club events (kinda hard in advance) if we can (ex. Adventure weekend, Christmas party, etc.)

Nothing says it has to be calendar year trucks chosen. It could be Nov to Nov. Or it could be 10 trucks plus 2 actions shots voted on from AW.

True enough but selling calendars in December with pics from Oct-Oct or using the January TOTM for March would seem odd to some.

Could use last year's December TOTM for the cover (or vote on TOTM from Dec-Nov) and an agreed club pic for this year's December, could get a calendar out before the end of the year.

Haven't used this site before and not sure yet all the details but still looking into it. So more input the better.

Ya, the Xmas rush is always an issue, Would love to put the TOTY as the cover, unless we put the one on from last year...I've got time, I'll see if I can come up with a good template/layout.

The problem with making most calendars, but solved with the TOTM is that people are usally pretty bad for sending pics, organizing and choosing who's in it, what months, etc.

I looked into doing this when I was doing the Year end dvd's. The calendars would just simply be to expensive to make (Aprox $25.00 each) And if you wanted to make a profit to donate to the club they get even more expensive. Things may have changed a little since I looked into it, but price them out!

Ya, may be about right when a friend did it many years ago for TSS, but I'll check with my contacts, see if I can get something done.

Was inspired and fired out an idea for the cover and the back today. Comments and suggestions always appreciated. I'll see what I can figure out for the month layouts, but don't want to spend a crazy amouth of time on them in case they don't end up getting done...
