Xterra front shock bolt torque help

Away from manuals and searching from my phone sux. Can any tell me front shock bolt torque for an '03??

Lower one says 87-108 ft/lbs.

Top one is 12-16 ft/lbs

I seem to recall that mine we quite squished when I torqued them down.

If there is a bolt or nut, Nissan will have a torque spec for it in the FSM.

I don't think that I actually torqued mine the last time I had them off, but there is a spec for it!

In all seriousness,thanx to Bow-Tied for tag teaming this with me. Especially when you need three arms to get that top rusted nut off.The worst part.haha. Bow's the man.

Yeah, those top nuts are a pita, I wonder if there is a better method. That last thing we tried where we grabbed hold of the shock tube with the huge channel locks - we shoulda started there I think and then we could have used a socket/impact maybe.

There should be a little tab on the top of the shock for you to use a wrench to hold it still while using another wrench to loosen the nut.

Yeah, that is what we were using, but what a worthless pc of crap to hang on to; a wrench would just round it, not to mention that size of wrench would not have the leverage needed. We actually broke that tab off of one of the shocks (OE) after the nut was already 'loose'. Crappy design IMO. Maybe I was just doing it wrong, lol.

When I removed my OEM shocks to install my ranchos, I actually had to cut them out. They are a SERIOUS PITA to get out once they are rusted and that top nut is the culprit...

Am I correct the rears are 30-37ft. lb.s top and bottom.

I just went reasonably "tight" and they've been fine.

With the fronts I too ended up just cutting off the top bolt as it was seized up good. Top bushing were squished, but not completely when re-installed.
