2" BL Help?

Any one feel like showing me how to do a 2" BL on my truck in the next couple weeks?

pucks arrived today - I didn't know what to expect, but these are hard plastic - somehow I was expecting hard rubber? Soo they should be plastic???

Yep, they should be plastic.

Plastic won't break down over time like the rubber could, which is why it's not a great idea to just drill a hole in a hockey puck for a regular DD.

If I'm free on the weekend you're doing it I can help out too. I've never done one before, but I'm not afraid of wrenches and jack stands.

I'm thinking of doing it the evening Friday, November 12. Along with replacing my shocks and front brakes. Am I being too ambitious? Does this sound like an all-nighter? I am also planning a loog drive on Saturday Nov 13.

I did the shocks on m Fronty in about 45minutes on my own a couple of weeks ago. When I was in there (had to remove the front wheels) the front brakes looked like nothing I've seen before, I have no idea what's involved there to be honest.

If starting at 9pm, about all that I would attempt is the shocks if you're determined to do something. Not sure I'll be able to come and help though.

I need by shocks replaced so that takes priority.

I found a step-by-steps for the front brakes, claims to take about an hour - I think I will leave the body lift for another day.

I have no problem working until 1 or 2 am, so that is what I'll do.

If anyone is interested in joining us, let me know.

I don't "need" to do a body lift right now, so that can wait until I can afford new tires. If there is someone out there with body-lift experience I would love to ear from you.

BL's, plan for the weekend. Ideally a 2" should only take 5ish hours providing everything comes out easy. You're likey going to have some issues with the rear body bolts, as we all do. Spray them all every day for a week before you attempt to take em out.

You'll also want to get a few 2x4's to lift the body off of the frame. the 2x4 that will sit against the rocker panel should have a groove cut into it so the pinch seam will sit inside of the wood. Its a good idea to have it almost the same legnth of rocker panel. Just do one side at a time and go slow. Other then that... Its been a few years since i've done mine. I'll keep adding info as I try to remember.

If I'm not up to anything and my wife gets stuck at school I will come out Friday night and help for a couple of hours. Can't make any promises though, as that's about the only way I'd be available at that time on a Friday.

Read this post, then stop surfing the internet. Go out to your garage. Grab the PB Blaster, and start spraying your body mount bolts. Then spray them again. Then tomorrow, do it again. And the next day. And keep doing it until the day you do the body lift.

Don't forget the bumper bolts. Spray those too. Spray the top bolt on the steering linkage. Spray the bolts on your sliders, if you have sliders. Spray the screws holding the evap line over in the passenger wheel well.

Take up the carpet, chip out the plastic covers over the pass-through body bolts, and...guess what? SPRAY THEM.

Do all of this and the BL should go smoothly.
