I would love to hit this trail, but do to it's length, and how the skool season works, and some gigs with the pipe band, I could only make it if we organized something in July - June is out. Skool is done the 29th, and the band competes on the 1st and the 3rd of July. After that, things can happen.

I'd love to hit a couple of trails and camp.

Definitely!!

The south trail is 32km long. Depending on what has happened with washouts since 2008, it's mildly difficult in places. Lots of rocks, skidplates are a must. A couple muddy places, and water crossings. I find the hardest part is the length of the trail. You don't want to do it all in one day, and then head home. We learned from that experience, and camp half way down.

If we go for 3 days, we do the north trail on day one, and then the south trail on day 2 & 3. I have pics on Canadian pathy from a couple years ago: http://www.canadianpathy.com/wheelinpics.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I only used to be an artist. :(

The grey ones are actually done that way, because the settings on the camera were fuggered up. They all came out really blue.

Cool. I like blue. The screen settings on my 'puter must be fuggared, as they look brownish here.

And once an artist, Carri, always an artist. You can never leave. It's sort of like being Catholic - the guilt is always there...

Yes, I'm getting the itch to visit Ardbeg again as well.

If we do it on a long weekend we can stretch it over 3-days and do the North trail as well or, if not, we'll just do the South trail over a regular weekend.

The only 3-day long weekends this summer are May 22-24 and July 31-August 2. All other weekends are 2-day.

What's the consensus?

OK, bringing this back to life:

I could visit Ardberg July 10/11.

I have permission and it's blocked out on the calendar, which means GOD can't even make alternate plans for me (god in this instance means "Good Old Dad," not the Big Guy with the white beard that could smote me with a lightening bolt should He choose.)

How's the weekend of July 10th and 11th for a visit to the North?

OK, that's cool, and I can understand the need for a day to recover. I was just suggesting this weekend. If guys want to go to Ardberg for a long weekend, cool, but there is no long weekend this summer that works for me.

What we need to do is get a calendar going for guys like me that really need to plan, otherwise the little lady will book me into something, and it's over.

that's what I do at home... all trails are noted then there is no arguments... I Think Ardbeg is just too far for me for a non-long weekend... I'll follow the thread in case it turns in a different direction
