Re: Yellow Top Retired

Had my battery load tested and was told that it was near dead. It was not holding a charge anywhere near what it should. It was suggested that one or more of the cells may no longer be functioning. That alternator was quickly checked and found to be A-OK. I have a volt metre in the truck so I can se...

Yellow Top Retired

After having my Yellow Top for over 7 years, the time came to replace it. Starting the truck in the morning was like tossing a coin. The starter would start to turn over, but wain just before turning the engine over. I chalked it up to the cold temperature. I decided to do a load test on the battery...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

oit was their recommendation for off roading and they didnt really mention anything about that... This is the same text on ALL license plate covers, coloured lightbulbs, and most over aftermarket vehicle accessories. You can do what you want to your vehicle as long as it stays off-road. The moment ...

The loop from this trailer is around my waist level.

I'm going to the army tonight and will take a measurement from one of the trailers in the back compound.

Re: Gov Surplus - 1988 Dew Eng LTD M104 CDN 4

That's the trailer for an MLVW. It attaches quite high. The best trailers for the X are the old Iltis or LSVW trailers. There are manual hand brakes which lock the trailer. The air assist is for braking only. Whithout them, the trailer free wheels; trust me, I almost lost one down an embankment Thes...

Re: ScanGauge 2 "Not Ready"

I'll try that. Computer still not ready.

Got my notice to renew my sticker, and will not pass under the new standards.

I may just end up "moving" to Northern Ontario so that I no longer have to undergo drive clean.

Re: ScanGauge 2 "Not Ready"

That's what I'm worried about.

My sticker expires in 3 months.

I've had a lot of work done lately (O2 sensors, timing belt, water pump, exhaust/muffler) and it's running cleaner but with this not quite an error error, I won't pass.

ScanGauge 2 - Now vomitting codes

When I do a scan with my SG2, I get No Codes Found, Not Ready.

I read online that is because the onboard system computer is sorting itself out.

Any idea how long this takes? It's been over a week.

Anyone had this issue before?

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Just installed my new Ranchos. Good thing as well, aparently the old rear shocks were just for show. The piston freely moved up and down just by turning the shock! The front stabalizer bar was rotten and broke off - new one installed. Water pump sounds like a helicopter. Good thing it's still under ...

Re: OBD2 0430 code

I had the same thing recently (well P0420). The problem for me was 100% the O2 sensors, they were completly shot. It took me over 5-6 hours to remove them as they were fused into place. After a lot of muscle and a torch, they were finally removed. Once out, it looked as it they had been dipped in a ...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

Over the past week, I decided to finally address some issues. I replaced my O2 sensors which were a real b!tch as they were solidly rusted and heated in place. Out came the torch and 6 hours of muscle. Finally changed them and the SES disappeared. Bye bye P0420! Additionally, when my vehicle idled, ...

Had a BIG yellow X at the end of my driveway this am. Good seeing you again. My wife asked me several times if I was selling them for too little, to which I replied, "We don't screw each other over, this isn't Kijiji. And besides, we have more room in the garage now!" Enjoy them my friend....

Service Engine Soon

Was driving in the rain this evening when the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Checked my scan gauge and P0420 was the lone code. Googled it and it comes up some sort of Catalytic Converter error. Can anyone shed further light/expertise on this problem, and more specifically costs asso...
