Re: Finding more trail leaders

We had discussed an event where if you wanted to "learn the ropes" of being a trail guide, that we would set up a Saturday in an area with multiple obstacles, that spotting and whatnot could be taught. This idea was to find something local, on private property, so it was not a matter of dr...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

I got to catch the trail hawk climb from the other side of the ravine.

It impressed me.

Re: Flashing Slip Light

I was thinking we should reset the steering angle sensor.
The steering was pretty far off before the alignment got done iirc.

Re: Roof rust

I've used Napa spray bombs, they're usually pretty close.

I found that if you wet sand it after painting, and then give it a final spray with clear coat, it comes out pretty good.

Re: Roof rust

My 2c..

I don't know if I'd go bedliner myself, but flat black for sure.

If you try to match it, and it's off by a shade or two, it will usually stick out like a sore thumb.

Going a contrasting colour like black will make it less noticeable.

Re: Fender flares

So I have been through this. I had a Jeep with 31inch 15:50’s Mikey Thompson’s cruising down lakeshore. Cop had a car pulled over and yanked me for hearing me coming. He checked his radar and had nothing on me and I was clean on everything else. Held me for 30mins and decided to hit me with tires o...

Yep, all is done.

I need to write up the last part and post some pics. I think that won't happen until next week.

Scored piston walls will cause high oil consumption.

Burning oil causes plugged cats

It's a vicious cycle

Re: Xterra Catalytic Converters

If the catalyst is physically broken, then yes, that is a possibility. I have seen it multiple times. Exhaust pulses as the engine goes through its 4 cycles. During that moment it pulses, there is negative pressure in the exhaust. Being a manicat, the catalyst material is right there at the engine, ...

Re: Upgrading weak Xterra steering. Total Chaos install/upda

How long have you been running that setup Mike? I upgraded mine when I had by IFS Xterra, SLR I think, and it was way better than stock, but still left something to be desired. The TC setup looks pretty good, for a crappy design...how did Nissan get the steering dsign so wrong? 4-5ish years I think...

Re: Upgrading weak Xterra steering. Total Chaos install/upda

LONG TERM TESTING  I have had to replace the heim’s twice since being installed, as they had a little play in the joints, and I wasn't comfortable driving it.  The first set I ordered from a local hot rod shop, and got hosed on the price.  I have since found that TMR carries them at about a third of...

Upgrading weak Xterra steering. Total Chaos install/update

In 2010 I started wheeling a 2003 Xterra I drove it like I stole it, and by 2011 I had replaced most of the steering 3 times. http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt209/john_arbor/Truck%20mods/09C34046-CE33-452F-92B8-5071CE7898CA.jpg This started my search for a heavy duty solution. I considered big t...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?

So far a rebuild kit from TotalChaos in California, and maybe upper control arm bushings from 4x4 parts in Florida.

I might have a couple spare bushings that were still good from the last time I rebuilt the control arms. Need to check my toolbox tonite.
