Re: Got a CB... its a relic - worthwhile?
I might be older than you think, I use oil of olay.
Well maybe you can help me sometime see if it will be make anything other than static. I don't want to spend time on the install of A POS unit. Maybe if it is old enough I can ebay under "vintage", lol.

Re: Parts list needed for "lobo" shelf
I have not done this but it seems like a great idea for extra storage. If the rack came loose during a front end collision, it could severly injure the people in the back seats, at least. How confident are you of the mounting provisions? Are you guys using load rated caribeaners? Why is it called &q...

Re: Xterra vs Cavalier
Inblack and Chandler have posted some great info, obvioulsy from direct experience. I am not sure how this thread became a no-fault discussion, but they posted accurate info from what I understand about it as an outsider. Just know that a claim, even if not at fault, could work against you in the fu...

Re: Xterra vs Cavalier
It is hard to tell from the pics, but if the damage to your truck is minimal and you can live with it, avoid insurance as it will impact your record as a "not at fault claim". Insurance companies are fundamentally evil and will fug you if they can. If you try to change companies and have a...

Got a CB... its a relic - worthwhile?
The price was right, (free from the father in-law) and he says it works or that it did when it was removed from his truck. What would have looked like new: http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t199/Bow_Tied/CB/JohnsonVIKING352.jpg I think my FIL added the 12V plug on the end. It has a magnetic base an...

Re: window control
Did anyone ever figure out if you can replace the switch for the passenger side window with the same "auto-down" one that is used for the Driver side? That's something that I've always wanted to do, but never had the motivation to actually look into. I remember reading about someone else ...

Thanks for that. I have you used the Erickson straps?
I note that the Erickson 2"x30' straps are rated 68% higher for half the money.

Very nice. I'd be interested in one like that. Maybe you can set one aside for a coffee meet to save shipping? Did you make that yourself or have them made?

Super, thanks.
Looking here: http://www.ericksonmfg.com/products/str ... traps.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I will look to get the 2" x 30' 18k lb strap and eventually a draw bar similar to the one shown with the clevis.

Recovery Straps
Since I am noob, I thought I would ask before purchasing a strap. 1. Is a 20' strap enough for most uses? I know a 30' is better and it can always be doubled up if too long, but I don't want to get a 30' and store something ( the extra 10') that is nearly never used. 2. If I do get a 30' strap and u...

Re: Heated mirrors
If it was me and I was adding heated mirrors, I'd simply have a wire from the defrost operate a relay to add power to the mirror heaters. That way you are not overloading a circuit not meant for the extra load. Mounting the mirrors and routing the wiring would be the hard part I think. Easier to say...

Re: What kind of steel do I need?
That's the thing. It's 30% more expensive (not a huge deal but every penny counts). But I don't know that it's necessary. And you're right, I imagine bending would be more of a challenge. Hey Ron, are you goign to the club tonight? If you are you should bring your laptop. Yes, planning on it. Bendi...

Re: What kind of steel do I need?
1.25" sched 40 is .140" thick walls - 1/4" wall in a larger tube will be much more difficult to bend. If you can get around the bending issue, the heavier pipe will be stronger, of course, but do you really need it?

Re: transmission windup
Yes to the new clutch. The CF DF is a great clutch, but will you really need it for what you do with your rig? Also consider the CF I or the CFII. These are 30% and 60% more clamp force than stock IIRC and nice thing is you could if needed get a replacement disc without the pressure plate where as t...
