Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
We didn't have much time. We used your coilovers with the spacers already on. I figured I'd experience the CBC phenomenon and then take them off.JAS wrote:Great that the spacers worked for you. Did you use my whole coil-over or did you use the spacers on your coil-overs?

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
I have the JAS spacers on. I didn't measure; I just trusted the yield would be 1.75". I didn't do anything to the back since I already have an extra leaf on each side. The truck sits level now and the clearance under the front is much less embarrassing. I suppose the return of the stock rims an...

cpeba is 42 minutes south of it (Scarborough)
rcafcoburn is 49 minutes north of it (CFB Borden)

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
That Pathy definitely ROCKS
I think BigRed44 is headed in that direction, but I don't know of any CNTC member running it right now.
If money were no object, I would certainly do it. For now, it's not in the cards

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
@Xtrapol8 - are you ever looking to run anything bigger than 33s? I did not get the impressions that you would be looking to open that can of worms. I doubt I would ever run tires bigger than 33s. A friend of mine has a Jeep she just lifted and upgraded to 35s and it looks great, but doing somethin...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
33's should fit without doing a body lift just have to do the melt mod. as for the 2"BL i did mine last summer and wasn't bad the hardest part was i had alot of seized bolts (Not Body Bolts). ...but you aren't able to fit 34s or 35s are you? Do 33s make contact upon full stuff without a body l...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
I think Rev did it. He had already done a suspension lift at that point though. If I'm taking all of this lifting information in correctly, the BL would not change ground clearance, but BLs allow larger tires to be installed, and even stuffed upward into the wheel well ... and larger tires mean more...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
I can lend you my OEM coil-overs with the spacers already on them. These should be the same as yours ('08 Off-Road). Just throw them on and decide for yourself. The spacer is 1-1/4" in height. The math puts that at 2" lift from where you are starting - 33" in you case. Thank you. Tha...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
I read something recently about the Xterra's geometry yielding 1.6x the spacer height in lift. Assuming that 1.75" is the thickness of the spacer, 1.75 x 1.6 = 2.8 inches of lift which is definitely CBC territory. A thinner spacer that would keep the lift to under 2.5" (as high as I would ...

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
JAS and FronyFlyer,
The 1.75" you refer to, is that the thickness of the spacer of the increased height (of the truck)?

They are, but word is that they don't play nicely with the stock springs when they are cranked up.Miner wrote:Are the adjustable Bilstien 5100s available for the Xterra?

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
Good advice.
Sometimes no amount of thinking/planning will give you as good a result as simply being willing to experiment a few times.
Thank you.

Re: Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
Looking to go over stock height - the comparison was just to help someone to tell me whether or not the coils/shocks are still worth keeping. If it weren't for the age/wear of the coils and/or shocks, it would be spacers and shackles for sure. I've read so many conflicting reports about CBC I conclu...

Spacers vs Coilovers ... or just springs?
My front suspension is 7 years old :-( I'm going to do a lift this spring but the money isn't there to do anything PRG-RadFlo-Ultimate-Awesomeness-ish. Extra info. - a year or two ago a leaf on each side cracked and was replaced, but I had the spring shop add another leaf to each side as well as rep...
