Alive yes! Sane, not sure.
It happens in a straight line and only at highway speeds. There is also a distinct humming which starts, but may be unrelated because the humming happens all the time and the slip has only occurred twice.

Has anyone else had this happen? At highway speeds 100 km/hr + and only twice my slip light has started flashing on dry surfaces. Atta boy! I've got a '93 4Runner and I've wheeled both Nissan and Toyota very hard. I still have an X for a daily driver, but Toyota is the answer offroad. Waaaaaaaaaay better drivetrain design for offroad use. Sorry folks, but it's true...having an alty at the bottom of your engine just blows goats...

It looks like a load sensor for your brakes...I've never thought of it but I have to agree with Simon. It will increase your braking power if stretched which might not be a bad thing for challenging downhills.

The ones I see most commonly on the trails are the EP and EPi series winches.
