Re: Rear window regulator parts supply

Yes - ordered on thursday, arrived on tuesday at the cottage north of kingston. That was shockingly fast. It was very simple to swap the regulators over. You just need a philips screwdriver and 10mm socket. It takes about half an hour each. There is not an exact youtube video for the xterra, but som...

Well that was easy... and inexpensive. They are supposed to arrive next week from Rockauto. Thanks for the tip

Rear window regulator parts supply

Does anyone have ideas for where to get rear window regulators for a 2002 Xterra? I need both left and right. Canadian tire only has the left one. NAPA and the other local parts supply cannot get them. THe local wrecker thought he could get them through his distribution network, but it turned out th...

Re: Apologies in advance

Sold - I don't think the new owner is a club member.

Thanks for your help - it's kind of sad to think its leaving us after so many years. It was a great vehicle.

Apologies in advance

Hello all - most likely only a few people would remember we. We've owned a 2002 Xterra for 17 years. It even has Bender's trailer hitch installed on it, delivered by various club members to me 17 years ago. I was a member of CNTC and its predecessor for a number of years. Our story is that we live o...

Re: Random Starting problems- 2002 Xterra

No problem. Let us know how it goes. Of course, my random starting problem randomly did not cause a single problem while they had it. Decided to replace the starter anyway, and hasn’t been a problem since. Perhaps we fixed it? And it is quite an eclectic garage. I particularly liked that the servic...

Re: Random Starting problems- 2002 Xterra

Ok... change in plan.

My nephew wants to borrow the truck until Christmas. I haven’t got time to fix it before I give it to him as we leave on Monday

Any recommendations for mechanics in Ottawa?

Re: Random Starting problems- 2002 Xterra

Thanks for the info.. I did check the battery voltage, charging current and charging voltage- all ok. so it does seem to be a starter issue. The dead spot certainly explains the randomness... but I’ll clean the wires and connectors when I replace the starter next year. And in other (I think) unrelat...

Random Starting problems- 2002 Xterra

Hi all Some may remember me- I’m the guy from out west that keeps an Xterra as a summer vehicle at our Rideau lakes cottage. I change the oil before winter after 3,000 -5,000 km of summer driving and then X becomes a garage queen for the winter. After 13 years, it now has 160kkm and has been complet...

Re: parts for timing belt replacement

OK... I know, I procrastinate. I finally did this at the cottage this summer, two years after I started this thread. Thanks to Morpheus for giving me the courage to try it. Some notes: 1) The step by step directions in the How to section, and the manual were both very useful. I printed relevant sect...

Re: Any comments on the Versa vs Honda Fit?

Thanks everyone. It sounds like there is not a wrong choice and that it'll come down to personal preferences... or a coin flip. I've never thought of a coin toss as being the ultimate car decision criteria :)

Any comments on the Versa vs Honda Fit?

With two kids gone (only 1 to go), we're looking at downsizing the minivan because we just don't need anything that big any more. Realistically, the replacement vehicle will be 99% city driving, with most trips less than 15km. We'll keep the X at the cottage, and my 540 for longer trips and 'fun' dr...

parts for timing belt replacement

So everything worked on the X when I brought it out of storage this year. Given that nothing was broken, and there was no mice damage to fix, I am trying to think of other things I can do instead. We have about 120000km on it, so I guess the timing belt & water pump are obvious choices. I've rea...

Re: Sometimes I wonder if my truck is out to get me...

Guess what - the clunk is gone. It doesn't make any sense yet... The clunk should still be there, but it isn't. :confuse: There another source of 'clunk' in your truck. I had a clunk on sharp left turns when I first bought my X. (i.e. low speed full lock turns like when you are parking or turning a...
