VG engine/transmission compatibility

Hey all, Yes, I know I haven't been here in a LONG time. I have a question that I should know the answer to, but I don't. On a Gen 1 Xterra, Can the engine from an automatic truck mate with a manual transmission? This is not something that we would have done way back when I was at nissan and now I n...

Re: Anyone have an engine?

Simps - that one might work out nicely, although not so cheap. $1,100 plus tax - with no core. They are so far away that they don't want the core.

Anyone have an engine?

Hi all, Yes, I know it has been forever since I have posted anything - this whole media thing takes up an enormous amount of my life. At least I'm finally earning a living again! So, some of you may recall that the timing belt on my 2000 X went for a poop.It was actually the tensioner that failed an...

Re: Finally working on the X!

Took the fan off, fan clutch is still stuck on the water pump. Have done more than just tap :x Top cover is off and belt is intact. top and one side are taught. One side is loose. Hoping this means that tensioner let go and belt skipped a tooth. Heading to PA shortly to pick up a puller and a 27mm s...

Happened just off idle, leaving a stop, so I am hopeful. Getting frustrated with cooling fan that won't come off!

You know I will brother! Just got a face full of coolant and can't get the fan off! Now I know why I was a service manager and not a tech!

Finally working on the X!

Yes, I procrastinate. Yes, it has been months.

I am finally lifting the hood on the old girl and investigating the broken t-belt situation!

Re: GRRR - broken timing belt!!!!

Truck has something like 260,0000 on it. I bought it at about 200. I had one of my techs at Subaru start into replacing it, but when he got the cover off, the belt looked new so he didn't replace it. Like I said, it happened at idle, so I'm hoping the luck gods are smiling.

GRRR - broken timing belt!!!!

Yes, I know I haven't been around here much lately, so much so that many of you newbies don't know me! The timing belt is broken on my 2000 X!!!! One of the problems with not working in the industry is that I no longer have free labor, which means I either have to turn wrenches for a change or pay s...

Re: New member coming

Our X is slogging along just fine. I'm embarrassed to say that after wheeling every x demo I had, my own truck didn't get dirty till last month!

I think it is gonna need a front drive shaft soon and the shocks are useless. It might be time for a maintenance upgrade to Bilsteins.

New member coming

I know, I've been a stranger around here. So much so that I bet there are a ton of newbies who don't know who I am! Anyway, my cousin and her hubby are about to pick up their new fully loaded black Fronty and I'll bet we'll see them introducing themselves on the board soon! I may not be as active as...

Re: More schwag: Finally ball caps

Ok folks, you can beat me with a stick any time you like!!!! No excuses, I've just got far too many projects on my plate and unfortunately haven't had time to get on this. I'm taking hats and logo to my embroidery guy today. I'll sift through these posts and make sure I have enough made up. If all g...

Re: Steering box Seal Kits

I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but are these kits together yet? I have a certain yellow truck here at the shop and the box is pissing. Now if we can just figure out why a straight truck pulls hard to the right :irked:
